The Publication of 30th Anniversary Treasure Every Child Casebook (Chinese)

To celebrate the joy of the 30th Anniversary, ACA publishes a casebook named "Treasure Every Child", based on three decades of counseling experience for children and parents.

Our Patron, Mrs. Selina Tsang, the Chairperson of Committee on Home-School Co-operation, Professor Wong Po-choi and the famous DJ, Ms. Tang Oi Lam contributed the prefaces. We thank Hong Kong Economic Times and Take me Home for taking on the printing and promotion of the casebook.

Prevention of Cyber Sexual Harassment (Chinese)

Guide to Prevent Children from Sexual Harassment in the Cyber World Surveys conducted by ACA in 2002 and 2004 and other similar studies revealed that the risk of youngsters being sexually harassed on the internet is growing as the youngsters spend more and more time in the cyber world. Child safety on the internet is a growing and immediate concern. But there is hardly any local publication on preventing children from sexual harassment in the cyber world. To fill the gap, ACA sought funding from Equal Opportunity Commission and published this Guide in 2006. The Guide aims at raising parents’ and teachers’ awareness of children’s exposure to internet pornography and strengthening their knowledge of the problem. Parents and teachers get practical advice from the Guide on how to help the children to steer away from sexual harassment on the internet.

5. Surveys and Reports

5.06

Survey on Sexual Conviction Record Check Mechanism: findings

The government has implemented a scheme for sexual conviction record check through the Police in December 2011. The scheme, which is voluntary in nature, enables organizations or enterprises whose work involve children or mentally incapacitated persons (MIPs), such as social service organizations, schools and tutorial centres, to check whether job applicants have any previous convictions for sexual offences so as to reduce the risk of sexual assault to children and MIPs.
ACA conducted a questionnaire survey in October 2011 to collect opinions on the scheme from the schools and NGOs concerned and to find out their intention of its application. The target respondents are agency heads and school principals. 126 completed questionnaires were collected from kindergartens and nursery schools, primary and secondary schools, special schools and NGOs.
The results of the survey were announced at the Sharing Forum on Sexual Conviction Record Check Mechanism on 7 November 2011 and sent to the Security Bureau for their reference.

It is a Children Empowerment Project, it aims at encouraging children share their views on indecent and pornographic information in the internet. The content of Youth Volunteers Training, Cyber Group Training, Child Safety Cyber Sharing Forum, Homepage Design Contest, Symposium for Cyber Fans, A Study of Junior Secondary School Students in using Internet, Meeting with Legislative Councillors and the Voices from the Participants are included in this project report.

兒童性侵犯辨識及預防訓練效用報告書(Chinese)

It is a joint effort made by Against Child Abuse and the Family Service of Caritas, Hong Kong. An effectiveness study on Identification and Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse Training was done. It is expected to incorporate the practical experience with the study and to involve more professionals in child protection and alert of the impacts of Child Sexual Abuse on children. This survey explored child care and disciplinary methods of parents. It also attempted to work into parent-child interactions, respondents' experience of being abused, left unattended, and their knowledge of child abuse and neglect. (Available in Chinese only)

Report on the Survey "Experience of Women Being Sexually Harassed" (Chinese)

This survey was conducted in 1992. There were 492 questionnaires collected. Over 80% of the responding women had been sexually harassed, some of the cases occurred in their childhood.
